Celebrity homes are a massive draw to tourists, and some of them have been changed into museums over the years to preserve the memory of the past. So if you are looking for a trip this summer that is slightly different, then why not consider going to one of these homes?

The Anne Frank House, Amsterdam – everyone in the world is familiar with the story of Anne Frank and her plight during the Holocaust and it is now a big tourist attracting in the Netherlands. The small annex was the hiding place of eight of her Jewish family during the time, and it is a sad and sobering affair, but a place you really should visit.

The Sherlock Holmes Museum in London is where the fictional character lived, and you can now go and see where he was supposed to have lived. Oddly, you can also visit his ‘death spot' in Switzerland, where the author, Arthur Conan Doyle, killed off the character.

Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico – the Frida Kahlo museum is a great location ot visit if you are passing through Mexico city. The building is striking with walls of cobalt blue and it pays homage to the artist, as it was where she lived as a child and then later with her husband, Diego Rivera. It is filled with Hispanic arts and clothes she used to wear, as well as her death masks which she made and still hang around the ceiling of her home.

Einstein's apartment, Bern – the flat that Einstein occupied with his wife and child in the early twentieth century is now available for viewing, and the flat has been reserved to how it was when he lived there. if you are passing through the city then it is a great place to stop and see.

The Bronte House, Haworth – for book lovers, the Bronte household is well worth a visit. See where the sisters grew up and sought inspiration for their books, and visit the moors, made famous by Wuthering Heights.
