Snorkelling Trips around Pharoahs Island in Taba

In step with most other sea side resorts in Egypt, snorkelling outings are available for tourists to Taba and Taba Heights. The spot is Pharoah's Island which is also referred to as Farun Island. It is located just off the Sinai coastline around 40 minutes cruising time from Taba Heights harbour. On the island, probably the most visible landmark is the old fortification constructed in the period of the Crusades by the Saracens.

Taba Heights - Introducing This Fabulous Golfing Resort

The resort is the perfect base to explore the surrounding area as well as visits to Eilat and Jerusalem in Israel or the outstanding Petra in Jordan. For those not wanting to travel too far, St Catherines Monastery is a popular excursion that is put together with a visit to the laid back resort of Dahab.

For anyone seeking to explore the coral reefs, there are choices for scuba divers and snorkellers as well. Farun Island (or Pharoahs Island) is a popular location for boats with both snorkellers and scuba divers. There is an ancient fort on the island constructed by the Saracen Salahdin during the time of the Crusades. The excursions all depart from the harbour and for divers, there are lots of great sites well suited for all abilities of diver giving a stunning variety of marinelife. For now, Taba Heights is still a rather unknown jewel in the Sinai yet with so much to offer you holidaymakers it's becoming a lot more popular.
