Trip To Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal also referred to as the ‘Princess of Hill Stations' it literally means ‘The Gift of the forest' in Tamil language is one beautiful his station adorning the plains of Tamil Nadu. This charming little hill station located in the hills of the Taluk division of the Dindigul district in the state of Tamil Nadu is widely renowned for the unique Kurinji flower that blossoms every 12 years. It last blossomed in the year 2006 and by 2018 it is scheduled to blossom next.  

Apart from this natural attraction there are several other attractions catching tourist' attention, a few of these attractions include Berijam Lake, Coakers Walk, Bryant Park, Kurinjiandavar Temple, Green Valley View also known as Suicide Point, Pillar Rocks, Silent Valley View, Devil's Kitchen, Guna Caves, Pine Forest, Shanthi Valley and Silver Cascade among others.

Situated 7,200 feet above sea level the region is a little difficult to access however after getting to this mystical place it makes every effort taken to get to this place pretty worthwhile. Tourists planning a trip to this place should keep in mind that there is no direct flight or even train to this place and roads are the only means connecting Kodaikanal to the rest of the country.

The nearest airport from Kodaikanal is Madurai located 120km away. Other neighboring airports nearby Kodaikanal are Trichy 150 km and Coimbatore 175 km. from these airport buses or cars are the only means to get to this hill station.

Tourists travelling by train need to get off at Kodai Road railway station which is just 80 kms from Kodaikanal and from Kodai road tourists need to either board a bus to this region or hire a cab or taxi for a comfortable journey to this hill station.

There are also innumerable bus services running on a regular basis from cities like Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Palani, Dindigul along with several other regions of the state.
