A camping holiday, particularly with a used caravan, may require some more planning than staying in a hotel or resort. As well as remembering everything you need to take, and thinking ahead in terms of safety precautions, you will need to consider more deeply factors such as the expected weather conditions, camping permits and your method of travelling between destinations. We have collected some aspects for you to consider before embarking on a trip with your used caravan.
Camping Permits: Having just purchased your used caravans you are probably eager to start travelling and discovering some of Australia's most beautiful natural landscapes. It pays, however, to do some research before you leave. Not only will this give you the chance to locate some stunning camping locations, it will also let you know where you are allowed to camp.
Australia has over 500 National Parks, all of which were formed to protect our unique flora and fauna. To check whether you can take your used caravan to a National Park, call the relevant Parks office and ask about the facilities and whether you can book a space.
Weather: We are extremely fortunate in Australia in having an incredibly varied climate. At any time of year, you should be able to find a spot to take your used caravan for a warm holiday, or even a snow trip. The southern states of Australia follow a classic four season pattern, making it easy to plan your holiday around the weather and time of year. Northern Australia is more tropical and only has two seasons, being wet and dry.
Central Australia is arid and dry for the duration of the year. If you want to take your used caravan through central and northern Australia, the best time for the weather is from April to November, as these months avoid the high temperatures of summer and the tropical storms of the wet season.
GPS: One valuable accessory you may consider for your used caravans is a GPS (Global Positioning System) unit to help navigate your way around the countryside or through the outback. They are a more accurate aid than paper maps and can be invaluable in the isolated Australian landscape.
Before leaving with your used caravan, remember to update the software on your GPS and purchase a power pack to ensure that the GPS does not lose power suddenly, leaving you with no method of finding your way.
