Tuscany and the Surrounding Area

If you tend to visit the same destinations year after year then it could be time for a change, and Tuscany could offer you that welcome break. The region, in central Italy is loved by the upper class, but it has something to offer everyone and it is well worth taking a trip to see it for yourself.

It is known for its verdant greenery and beautiful landscapes, and it is seen to be the birthplace of the Italian renaissance, as some of the most influential people in this period have lived and stayed here.

Six of the localities are deemed to be world heritage sites, and there are the entre of Florence, the centre of Siena, the cathedral of Pisa, the centre of San Gimagnana, Pienza and the Val d'Orcia. Tuscany has over one hundred nature reserves, and this makes the area popular with tourists from all over the world. Florence itself is one of the most visited cities in the world with over ten million visitors, and there is such a lot for you to see if you are visiting.

Pisa sits on the bank of the River Arno, and is famous for its iconic leaning tower. The area has more than twenty other historic churches, and there are places and other architectural sites that you can see when you are there.

Siena is famous not only for food but for art, and attracts millions of tourists, especially in the summer months when the temperatures are balmy and the nights long.

The Val d'Orcia is a region in Tuscany that is known for its gentle rolling hills and vineyards that produce some of Italy's most loved wines. It was added as a UNESCO world heritage site as it is a reflection of the landscape during the renaissance period, and because of this, the landscape has been preserved to the way that it has always been.

If you are planning on taking a trip to Tuscany this summer to gorge on some of the amazing food or sample the wine then ensure you have Travel Insurance in case of an accident or cancellation to your trip.
