One place that you should put on your agenda is the thriving metropolis of Barcelona, Spain's second most visited city. Barcelona is a city full of architectural marvels such as the Church of the Sagrada Familia. This magnificent structure was designed by Catalan's famous architect Antoni Gaudi, who was well known for his modernist designs. Barcelona's famous Las Ramblas boulevard leads to the Plaza de Cataluna which is surrounded by ancient architecture that allows you to trace the city's history. While you are in the old section of town pay a visit to the Church of San Pablo del Ocampo and the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia, which was built in the Gothic style. This cathedral is also a monument to Spain's famous explorer Christopher Columbus. You can also find examples of work by the architect Josep Vilaseca in Barcelona such as the red brick Arc del Triomf and the Barri Gotic.
Whether you are a scholar or not, you should pay a visit to Barcelona's educational and art institutions which represent an excellent learning centre. To start with there are the University of Barcelona, the Royal Archives of Aragon, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Ancient Art, Museum of Modern Art and the Contemporary Art Museum, it is hard to believe this amount of educational facilities is available in one city.
Madrid is situated in the heart of Spain as well as being its capitol. Madrid is famous for a number of things but the one thing that most people don't take into consideration is that Madrid is a melting pot. This melting pot includes architecture, cuisine and customs to name but a few which has been affected by the different civilizations that ruled Spain. The architecture is probably the most affected, as a matter of fact you can trace Spain's history through its buildings. Madrid is also well known for its vibrant nightlife found in its many bars, music halls, dance halls, discos and night clubs which are open all night long. Madrid is also not short of a few museums which includes the Museo del Prado that holds a history of Spain in its art collection. There are also museums dedicated to Spain's famous artists where you can view their works such as Velazquez's Las Meninas and Goya's Las Majas. If you would like to see the Spanish Civil War depicted in art by the well known Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, venture over to the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia.
If you are a bit of a history buff you have done well by booking your RENTALS IN SPAIN, and even better you have chosen Madrid for one of your locations. You can start at the National Library: whenever a book is published in Spain, a copy of it is stored here. Not to be left out is the Museum of Bullfighting, the Cultural Centre of Madrid and the National Museum of Decorative Art. At the top of your wish list should be a trip to the Royal Palace where you can literally walk through history in the rooms open to the public. Just imagine strolling through the palace gardens and your mind wonders back to a time when knights of the realm roamed the country looking for damsels in distress.
