The International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP) has added the Caribbean island of Grenada to its list of members.
The island nation is the first representative from the Caribbean to join the alliance. As a member, Grenada will benefit from joint marketing and branding opportunities in primary and secondary markets which will lead to the promotion of sustainable and green Grenada holidays.
The Director of Tourism for Grenada, Simon Stiell, said: "Grenada is proud to be the first Caribbean representative to ICTP, and we look forward to sharing resources with our worldwide partners in the development of new markets for our tourism product.
"As part of this global alliance, we share in the belief travel and tourism is a key driver in the creation of community businesses, jobs, well-being, and happiness.
"We also share ICTP's commitment to green growth by creating low-carbon and environmentally-sound developments."

As a member of the ICTP, the Grenada Board of Tourism will receive support to help it achieve low carbon Green Growth as well as guidance and education to develop policies and programmes that will create sustainable travel and tourism communities.
The ICTP will help reinforce Grenada's products and marketing initiatives with the help of social media, e-marketing, public relations, communications and advertising to encourage global travellers to take Caribbean holidays to the idyllic tropical island.
Juergen Steinmetz, the Chairman of International Council of Tourism Partners, said: "We are delighted to welcome Grenada to our fast-growing alliance and force of socially-responsible destinations committed to sustainable travel.
"The synergy of the ICTP alliance will enable even the smallest destination to create ongoing awareness in both primary and secondary global tourism markets.
"Grenada demonstrates leadership for the Caribbean in joining our alliance."
He added: "We are looking forward to welcoming Grenada and leaders representing all our members at the World Travel Market to introduce their destination."

Grenada is located in the south-eastern Caribbean Sea, northwest of Trinidad and Tobago. The country is known as the "island of spice" and is one of the world's largest exporters of nutmeg, mace, cinnamon and cloves.
The beautiful island boasts white sand beaches, turquoise ocean waters, mountains, lush green forests, winding rivers and cascading waterfalls. Travellers taking Grenada holidays can enjoy scuba diving and snorkelling activities, hiking and gourmet traditional cuisine.

Ecotourism is growing steadily on the island and many Grenada hotels are eco-friendly, from small guesthouses and cottages, to luxury beachfront resorts.
Other ICTP members include the Seychelles, La Reunion, Johannesburg, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Oman, Grenada, Hawaii, and Saipan.
