A new construction giving holidaymakers easier access to get to and from the various exciting sites to be explored during holidays in Cancun, a new bypass bridge will now be connecting Playa del Carmen to other Cancun sites of tourist interest.
Recently, Playa del Carmen Real Estate has been busy with building plans and new infrastructure developments to improve accessibility by residents, tourists and foreign holiday-home owners in Cancun.

These new road enhancements have not only made the lives of citizens and holidaymakers enjoying Cancun holidays easier, they have also given the city a more modern, urban touch and the kind of smoothness and efficiency expected from tourists around the world who expect this kind of state-of-the-art infrastructure when they come on luxury holidays to Cancun.
And now, thanks to the finishing of the latest and final construction phase, visitors can enjoy more time at resort and less time on the road with the newly unveiled Playa del Carmen bypass bridge. The addition of this new bridge means that the journey time from Cancun to top deluxe hotels Dreams Puerto Aventuras and Dreams Tulum will be reduced by 20 – 35 minutes!

The brand new 16-mile long bypass starts at Cancun and ends in Tulum, intersecting with the existing highway just south of the airport. This new bridge will alleviate traffic through Playa del Carmen, decrease congestion around Tulum's town centre, and will also benefit the environment by improving air and sound quality along the Riviera Maya. Additionally, and most importantly, the new bridge also cuts out traffic lights and speed bumps through Playa del Carmen, making for a quicker trip to the popular tourist zones of Puerto Aventuras and Tulum.

However, as good as this news may sound now, initially the project didn't get off to a good start. When plans for the bridge were first announced, there were some dissenting voices. Some protested that the bridges would have the effect of dividing the city in to beach side of the highway and the other non-beach side. But the concerns were soon put to rest as for the most part they were unfounded and didn't generate lot of support. The bridge's design was carefully thought out and has been made intelligently with posts instead of closed concrete, allowing for clear vision to the other side. While approaching the completed section of the first bridge on a small downtown road, a vehicle driver will not notice the bridge until reaching the federal highway itself.
Those coming to the area to enjoy holidays in Cancun will now have full and easy access to a vast range of sites and facilities. Just at the point where the bridge ends there is a Sam's Club, they can also find Playa del Carmen's newest and swankiest shopping mall: Centro Maya, supermarket Soriana, a cinema and many other leisure venues.
