Fun Things to Do in Flagstaff, AZ

Taking a trip to Arizona is exciting and also adventurous. Flagstaff should not be ignored when planning a fun trip. There are many fun things to do in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Located in northern Arizona, Flagstaff is not usually considered a destination when planning an Arizona vacation. However, there is a lot to be missed if Flagstaff is not included in the trip. It is also a great place for a family to vacation because there is always something for both the kids and adults.

The Out of Africa Wildlife Park is a definite fun visit and the kids will be telling their friends at home how cool it was. This is not a typical zoo. This park actually encourages interaction between the humans and the animals right in their own habitats. This may sound scary because there are cougars, tigers and many other large felines who inhabit this park. No need to worry because the trainers are there for your safety. This park is animal friendly because these trainers do not use angry words and whip to teach. They know how to read the animals just by reading their reactions. They never train more than they have to. To make this even more fun, there are feedings, performances and encounter sessions all during your visit.

For a more subdued, yet still fun thing to do, a visit to the Museum of Northern Arizona should be on the list. This fabulous museum houses at least five million items regarding the geology and culture of the prehistoric and Native American pasts of this area. Many people may yawn when thinking about a museum, but this one is great enough to include because of all the amazing exhibits and handicrafts that show Flagstaff's past. Another museum, the Pioneer, is just down the street, and is a bit smaller if your time is limited.

For more outdoor adventure and beautiful sites, the Grand Canyon National Park is for all visitors. It's so famous that no introduction is needed to this amazing natural beauty. Walnut Canyon National Monument is just east of Flagstaff and was home of the Sinagua tribe. It is a breath-taking pastoral, wooded canyon and there are 300 homes from the 12th and 13th centuries that are actually cliff dwellings located under rock overhangs. This fascinating place is unbelievable since it dates so far back.

Flagstaff also offers its' share of shopping, restaurants and exciting nightlife that is always fun on any vacation. After spending days just out seeing the unique sites, it's great to slow down and enjoy the food, drink and dancing.
