Heatwave of Slump?

The spring in the UK has been one of the hottest on record, with a record low in rain fall and weather forecasters predicting a hosepipe ban and calling it ‘flaming June'. But it seems that predictions of a Mediterranean summer could be dashed as the met office confirm that the country could return to far more normal temperatures this week, and the start of June could go off with a fizzle rather than the bang we were promised.

It seems that this is bad news for us, and although people heading off to popular festivals like the Isle of Wight, Glastonbury and Bestival will not have to hook out their wellies, the tennis players at Wimbledon won't have to worry about dehydration either.

The end fortnight of June should see warm temperatures, but this is average with the time of year, and people shouldn't get their hopes up for a particularly warm period.

The lack of water we have seen these past few months has been disastrous for farmers up and down the country, and we will see it push up the cost of food into the autumn as the crops have not been as fruitful as they normally would be at this time of year.

The environment agency have put in p[lace a drought plan in case of the country seeing any less rainfall, and there are water standpipes that have been set up along the streets of UK as provisions to collect the limited rainfall.

Sadly though it seems that the lack of water isn't indicative of a heat wave, and we should be prepared that for the first few weeks of June the weather will be unsettled, grey and perhaps rainy for the majority of the days.

The MET office is worried that the predictions from certain weather forecasters might put a dip on morality in the UK as we are disappointed with what we are getting. But at least there is a lot less rain for this time of year, making us less despondent as we go about our daily lives.
